The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed that no lives have been misplaced within the fuel explosion that rocked Orokeonuoha Neighborhood in Ebonyi Native Authorities Space on Thursday.
In keeping with the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Joshua Ukandu, 10 people suffered various levels of burns within the incident.
In an announcement issued throughout an interview in Abakaliki on Saturday, Ukandu reassured the general public that regardless of the accidents, no fatalities have been reported.
The Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the incident occurred at Good Shepherd Catering College in Orokeonuoha.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) said, “The police are conscious of the incident, which occurred on Thursday. The victims have been taken to Alex Ekwueme Federal College Educating Hospital, Abakaliki. On the time of the incident, no deaths have been recorded, and there have been college students current within the faculty when it occurred.”
The PPRO described the explosion as “very unlucky,” including that it was allegedly attributable to a fuel cylinder within the faculty’s kitchen.
In the meantime, Ebonyi State’s Fireplace Service revealed that it was not knowledgeable of the explosion.
Chief Fireplace Officer Ralph Ibiam, responding to criticism over the dearth of intervention, mentioned, “No person alerted the fireplace service concerning the incident.”
Ibiam expressed his sympathy for the victims and warned that fuel explosions have been turning into extra widespread within the state.
He urged the general public to comply with security pointers, particularly avoiding telephone calls at gasoline stations, in kitchens, or close to electrical home equipment, as fireplace “strikes like a wave.”
