Tripoli, Libya – Abdelhakim Al-Shalmani, President of the Libyan Soccer Federation (LFF), has formally resigned from his place, citing dissatisfaction with the state of Libyan sports activities.
Al-Shalmani’s resignation was introduced in the course of the Federation’s Basic Meeting assembly on Sunday. In his parting assertion, he expressed remorse for the scenario in Libyan sports activities, saying, “I don’t need to be a part of the failure in Libyan sports activities.”
Regardless of the circumstances, he prolonged gratitude to his colleagues and forgiveness to these within the sports activities sector, stating, “I thank all members of the Basic Meeting, and I forgive everybody from all segments of the sports activities sector.”
The resignation comes amidst the Tremendous Eagles of Nigeria’s accusations of “inhumane therapy” by the Libyan soccer authorities. The Nigerian crew was stranded at Al Abraq Worldwide Airport for over 16 hours with out help from the LFF forward of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.
In response, the Confederation of African Soccer (CAF) has initiated an investigation into the incident. CAF mentioned in a press release, “The matter has been referred to the CAF Disciplinary Board for investigation, and acceptable motion shall be taken in opposition to those that violated the CAF Statutes and Laws.”
