The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has listed Paris 2024 Olympics 400m semifinalist, Ella Onojuvwevwo, lengthy bounce finalist, Prestina Ochonogor, Commonwealth Youth Video games 100m silver medalist, Justiana Eyakpobeyan and Israel Okon Sunday for the World U20 Championships slated for the Estadio Atletico de la Videna in Lima, Peru. It is going to run from August 27-31.
The 18-man Nigerian crew was launched on Friday by World Athletics. It has eight males and 10 girls competing in eight occasions viz 100m, 200, 400, 400m hurdles, 800m, the 4x100m and 4x400m relays in addition to two discipline occasions, the lengthy bounce and excessive bounce.
For the boys, Chidera Ezeakor, Caleb John and Sunday will compete within the 100m, whereas John and Sunday can even compete within the 200m.
Gafari Badmus and Caleb Joshua will compete within the 400m whereas Goodluck Ezechukwu Fiaku will compete within the excessive bounce and Oseiwe Salami within the 400m hurdles.
For the ladies, Eyakpobeyan, Valuable Nzeakor and Chioma Cynthia Nweke will compete within the 100m, whereas Nzeakor and Onojuvwevwo will compete within the 200m.
Onojuvwevwo can even compete within the 400m alongside Favour Onyah and Chioma Nwachukwu with Ochonogor competing within the lengthy bounce and Taiwo Mary Kudoro within the 400m hurdles.
Adisa Rhoda would be the sole competitor within the 800m.
