Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has revealed that the 6,000-capacity Edo Enviornment can be named after afrobeats world star, Rema.
The governor introduced this in the course of the groundbreaking ceremony of the venture in Benin Metropolis on Wednesday.
Rema, who was in Benin for his homecoming live performance on the Ogbe Stadium, joined the governor for the groundbreaking ceremony of Edo Enviornment and laid the primary block.
“It was a pleasure to have our world music icon @heisrema, be a part of me in performing the groundbreaking ceremony for the 6,000-capacity Edo Enviornment. The world, which will probably be known as ‘Rema’s Dome,’ is situated on the former Garrick Memorial College Floor on Ekenhuan Street in Benin Metropolis,” Governor Obaseki mentioned in an announcement through X shortly after the ceremony.
The Governor defined that when accomplished, the world will host a variety of events- from concert events and nationwide conferences to symposiums and different giant gatherings.
He added that the world will entice extra guests to the state, “permitting them to expertise our wealthy tradition and what we have now to supply, which is able to create employment alternatives for our youths.”
Rema, born Divine Ikubor, is from Benin Metropolis and has been a proud ambassador of Edo State, selling the state and legacy of the traditional Benin empire in his music and concert events.
His newest hit track ‘Benin Boys’ which featured fellow Edo-born star, Shallipopi, is a tribute to the town.
