Calabar, Nigeria – The Nationwide Senior Residents Centre (NSCC) has recognised 50 alumni from the Hope Waddell Coaching Establishment, who’re celebrating the establishment’s a hundred and thirtieth anniversary, as senior residents of Nigeria.
The ceremony for the investiture of those 50 distinguished people, centered on intergenerational studying and youth mentoring, occurred on Saturday on the Meeting Corridor of Hope Waddell in Calabar.
Emem Omokaro, the Director Basic of NSCC, represented by Mr. Omini Oden, Head of Company Affairs, Media, and Communications, highlighted that NSCC is a Federal Company established by the NSCC Act of 2017 and inaugurated in 2021. Its mission is to handle the challenges confronted by older people and to boost their high quality of life and well-being.
“We’re excited to showcase our numerous transformative and revolutionary programmes, notably our Persevering with Engagement Bureau programme, which offers senior residents with alternatives to contribute to their communities via work schemes and labour market agreements,” she acknowledged.
“Right this moment, we current our senior alumni with the place of NSCC Distinguished Envoy for Intergenerational Studying and Youth Mentoring. NSCC facilitates engagement platforms for each the Institute and its alumni to understand the theme of Hope Waddell’s a hundred and thirtieth anniversary: Wonderful Heritage: Inspiring the Future.”
Omokaro emphasised that the centre’s goal is to attach senior residents with voluntary alternatives in fields of curiosity to assist them generate or complement earnings.
She defined that NSCC goals to companion with the alumni to function distinguished faces and voices, highlighting the significance of sharing information and experiences between generations via structured mentoring relationships that encourage and foster connections.
“In keeping with the NSCC Persevering with Engagement Bureau Programme, we invite alumni aged 60 and above from Hope Waddell to embrace this platform to operationalise the theme ‘Wonderful Heritage: Inspiring the Future,” she famous.
The target is to advertise intergenerational actions, cross-generational studying, and life teaching, she added.
Following the investiture, Barr. Efio-ita Ephraim, President of the Hope Waddell Outdated Scholar’s Affiliation (HWOSA), characterised the popularity from the NSCC as a name to service. He inspired the honorees to utilise their expertise and experience to the fullest.
