The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted $1.1 million and 135,900 Saudi Riyals in undeclared international forex on the Mallam Aminu Kano Worldwide Airport, Kano.
In a press release on Thursday, NCS spokesperson Abdullahi Maiwada disclosed that the money was found hid in packs of palm dates throughout a bodily examination of a passenger’s baggage.
Passenger Convicted, Cash Forfeited
The passenger, who had arrived from Saudi Arabia on Saudi Airline flight No. SV401, was arrested and subsequently convicted in court docket for failing to declare the foreign exchange.
