The College of Lagos (UNILAG) has unbundled its Mass Communication Division into 5 programmes beneath the newly established School of Communication and Media Research to reinforce specialisation and professionalism.
In a letter dated March 6, 2025, issued by the workplace of the Registrar and directed to the Dean, School of Social Sciences, Prof. Adelaja Odukoya, it acknowledged that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, has accepted the graduation of the implementation of the brand new School of Communication.
Beneath the brand new School, it has three departments, specifically, Mass Communication, Public Relations and Promoting and Journalism, Broadcasting and Media Research.
The programmes embody B.Sc, M.Sc, PhD Mass Communication, B.Sc. Public Relations, B.Sc. Promoting, B.Sc. Journalism and B.Sc. Broadcasting.
The Head of Division (HoD), Prof. Oloruntola Sunday, in an interview, welcomed the event, noting that the programmes would kick off in October 2025.
He careworn that the unbundling was according to the suggestions of the Nationwide Universities Fee (NUC), which not too long ago unbundled the nationwide curriculum for some programs through which Mass Communication was a part of.
He additional famous that with the event, the division would want extra palms by using new lecturers to take the brand new programs.
The HoD, nonetheless, assured that the division is well-equipped with the required services to make sure the graceful operating of the school.
