A member of Home of Representatives, Philip Agbese (APC-Benue) has referred to as on the Home to intervene within the crises affecting the Benue and Zamfara State Homes of Meeting.
Agbese made the enchantment yesterday in Abuja after submitting a petition to the Home, endorsed by greater than 200 attorneys.
As deputy spokesperson for the Home, he expressed concern that the troubling scenario in Rivers shouldn’t be allowed to unfold in different states.
Agbese warned that passivity might result in the Government department assuming larger management, diminishing the legislative function to a mere rubber-stamping physique.
“The alarming developments in Benue and Zamfara, characterised by impunity, anarchy, and lawlessness, in addition to an try to undermine the powers of a coordinate arm of presidency, demand our pressing intervention.
“The petitioners have requested the Home to invoke Part 11(4) of the Structure to take over the capabilities of the Benue and Zamfara State Homes of Meeting, following an investigation,” Agbese said.
He stated that the purpose was to revive constitutional order, uphold the rule of regulation, and shield basic human rights within the affected states.
The petition was referred to the Home Committee on Public Petitions for additional legislative motion. (NAN)
