The Tutorial Employees Union of Universities (ASUU), Sokoto State College (SSU) chapter, has formally known as off its indefinite strike, paving the best way for the instant resumption of educational actions.
The choice was reached throughout a congress held on Thursday at Lecture Corridor 2, School of Arts. Through the assembly, ASUU members reviewed the outcomes of a March 4, 2025, conciliation assembly between the Sokoto State Authorities and ASUU management.
After in depth deliberations on the federal government’s proposals, members of the union voted in favor of suspending the strike. The ASUU Nationwide Government Council subsequently endorsed the choice.
ASUU SSU Chairperson, Saidu Abubakar, alongside Secretary, Hassan Aliyu, confirmed the decision, directing all educational employees to return to work immediately.
The strike, which commenced on February 26, 2025, was triggered by unresolved disputes with the state authorities. Though particulars of the settlement stay undisclosed, the suspension indicators progress in addressing the union’s calls for.
With this improvement, college students and lecturers at SSU can now put together for the restoration of regular educational actions after weeks of disruption.
