The Kogi State chapter of the Social Democratic Social gathering (SDP) is going through inside discord as its chairman, Moses Peter Oricha, has dismissed a deliberate congress by some people claiming to be social gathering members, The Bureau Newspaper gathered.
In an announcement issued on Monday, Oricha urged most of the people, safety companies, and the Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC) to ignore the purported congress, which is allegedly scheduled for March 12, 2025.
“It has simply come to my discover that some ghost people claiming to be members of the Social Democratic Social gathering, SDP, in Kogi State are planning to organise a state congress this Wednesday, March 12, 2025,” Oricha acknowledged.
Describing the transfer as “laughable and felony,” he accused the people of being faceless and dealing for exterior sponsors with the intent of inflicting chaos within the social gathering.
“Most people mustn’t take these people critically with their caricature of a state congress, which can not stand the take a look at of time as a result of no person is aware of them in SDP Kogi State,” he added.
Oricha confirmed that he had formally written to INEC, the Division of State Providers (DSS), and the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, urging them to ignore and cease the deliberate congress, which he declared null and void.
Reaffirming his management, Oricha identified that the present state government was validly elected in April 2022 and that the following congress wouldn’t happen till April 2026, according to the SDP structure.
“We urge SDP supporters to ignore any such purported plan by this group of disgruntled parts who’re enemies of our social gathering,” he concluded.
The scenario underscores rising tensions inside the Kogi SDP because the social gathering navigates inside management disputes forward of future political engagements.
