Calabar, Nigeria – The Cross River State Process Group on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (STG-WASH) held its inaugural assembly on Thursday on the Ministry of Water Assets (MoWR) Convention Room, Calabar Municipality, to chart a path for advancing WASH initiatives within the state.
In his opening remarks, the Everlasting Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Okon Ita, counseled attendees and emphasised the necessity for a collaborative method to handle challenges within the sector. He reaffirmed the federal government’s dedication to revitalising the WASH sector, which he famous had declined lately.
“We have to meet to enhance the WASH sector. Take this project critically; all we would like is to revitalise the sector,” he acknowledged.
The assembly targeted on strategic planning and stakeholder engagement to drive the state’s WASH agenda.
Members had been nominated to key vacant positions, with Mr Archibong Jeremiah of the WASH Media Community chosen because the Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Mr Eni Nkanu of the Ministry of Water Assets because the Useful resource Mobilisation Officer (RMO).
Moreover, a committee was fashioned to draft Phrases of Reference (TORs) for 4 technical working teams: water provide, sanitation and hygiene, WASH in emergencies, and local weather change and analysis.

The assembly concluded with the drafting of a three-month price work plan (January–March 2025), aligning proposed actions with the upcoming STG-WASH inauguration.
