The Kano State Excessive Court docket has convicted a housewife, Fadila Adamu, and sentenced her to loss of life by hanging for killing an eight-year-old lady.
Fadila, a resident of Sabuwar Gandu Quarters, was earlier arrested and convicted for culpable murder for kidnapping {the teenager} and subsequently throwing her right into a properly, resulting in her merciless loss of life.
Justice Yusuf Muhammad-Ubale dominated that the prosecution had confirmed its case past an affordable doubt, thereby necessitating the defendant’s capital punishment.
“I hereby sentence the defendant to loss of life by hanging for kidnapping and throwing the sufferer right into a properly, which brought on her loss of life,” he dominated.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Lamido Abba-Sorondinki, instructed the courtroom that the defendant dedicated the offence on July 14, 2019, at Tudun Wada Quarters, Kano.
“The defendant instructed her sister that the deceased was the daughter of her good friend, whose mom had travelled to Ghana, and requested her to maintain the kid till she returned.
“On July 17, 2019, at about 6:30 p.m., the defendant brought on the loss of life of the minor when she threw her right into a deep properly located within the Tukuntawa Quarters, Kano,” he mentioned.
Abba-Sorondinki offered seven witnesses, together with the defendant’s statements and a medical report confirming the sufferer’s loss of life. The prosecution mentioned that the offence contravened Sections 274(b) and 221(a) of the Penal Code.
The defendant denied committing the offence.
The protection counsel, Zulaihat Tata, offered 4 witnesses, together with the defendant, to testify in her protection.
