The Ibaji Progressive Youth Basis (IPYF), a Kogi State-based youth organisation, has expressed outrage over the destruction of its banners by people allegedly linked to the native authorities. The banners, displayed to advertise group engagement, had been reportedly torn down inside 24 hours, sparking condemnation from the group.

In a strongly worded assertion, the IPYF described the act as a “blatant assault” on their rights to freedom of expression and group participation.
“This despicable act, carried out by thugs allegedly sponsored by the Ibaji authorities, is a blatant assault on our rights to freedom of expression and group engagement,” the group said.
They additional characterised the incident as half of a bigger marketing campaign of intimidation aimed toward silencing dissent and discouraging their efforts to uplift Ibaji’s youth.
