The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dissociated itself from the continued circulation of false, deceptive, and felony messages focusing on candidates that registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The JAMB spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in a press release on Wednesday in Abuja, stated these messages had been being disseminated by suspected fraudsters with the intent to defraud unsuspecting people.
Benjamin famous that the perpetrators had exploited the numerical variant of UTME, 8863, and merged it with the Board’s type code, ‘55019’, to create a misleading type code that mimics JAMB’s official messaging system.
In accordance with him, by this fraudulent scheme, they’ve been sending deceptive messages to candidates, falsely claiming to detect manipulations of their JAMB particulars and urging them to contact sure people who will “help” in resolving these fabricated points.
“We need to emphasize that these messages will not be from JAMB. Safety businesses have been notified and are actively monitoring the perpetrators behind this rip-off.
“Candidates are strongly suggested to disregard such messages. It is a widespread tactic employed by fraudsters, who search to take advantage of the examination interval to deceive and defraud harmless candidates.
He, due to this fact, urged most of the people to stay vigilant and critically assess the messages they obtain, including that any communication that doesn’t align with JAMB’s official channels or makes use of suspicious language or directions must be handled as fraudulent.
