The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) stated the legislation that established the board doesn’t allow it to course of admission for increased nationwide diploma (HND) candidates.
Some HND college students not too long ago accused the board of being the unseen palms behind their incapacity to go for his or her Nationwide Youth Service scheme (NYSC).
JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, stated the board has no involvement, authority, or management over the admissions course of for HND candidate
The board added that candidates’ HND admissions are “unknown and irrelevant” to the mandate of JAMB.
“The legislation that established JAMB states, ‘For the avoidance of doubt, the board shall be answerable for figuring out matriculation necessities and conducting examinations resulting in undergraduate admissions, in addition to for admissions to Nationwide Diploma and Nigerian Certificates in Schooling programs,” Benjamin stated.
“Nonetheless, the Board shall not be answerable for examinations or every other selective processes for postgraduate programs or every other programs provided by tertiary establishments.”
The aggrieved college students claimed they weren’t mobilised for service as a result of they did a part-time programme for his or her nationwide diploma (ND).
JAMB earlier gave a 30-day ultimatum to establishments in August to declare all admissions performed exterior its processing system.
