The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has intercepted 1,571 litres of petroleum merchandise being illegally transported in jerrycans to banditry-prone areas.
Addressing journalists on behalf of the State Commandant, Sani Mustapha, the Public Relations Officer of the command, Umar Muhammad, revealed that 4 suspects had been arrested in reference to the crime at two separate areas.
Amongst them had been two filling station pump attendants and two consumers apprehended within the Birnin Magaji and Tsafe Native Authorities Areas of the state.
Based on Muhammad, other than transporting gas from unauthorised areas, the suspects additionally violated the Govt Order prohibiting the sale of petroleum merchandise in jerricans inside Zamfara State.

He said that two of the suspects had been caught in Birnin Magaji with 1,296 litres of gas, whereas the opposite two had been arrested in Tsafe with 275 litres of the product.
“At the moment, we deliver earlier than you 4 suspects apprehended for unlawful dealings of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in massive portions, violating the Nationwide and State Govt Order of petroleum merchandise gross sales to retailers in Jerrycans,” he said.
The NSCDC assured residents that investigations are ongoing and reaffirmed its dedication to imposing the legislation to curb unlawful gas diversion and actions that would help insecurity within the state.
