A chieftain of the Folks’s Democratic Celebration, PDP, Dele Momodu, has tackled a former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, for asking former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to not contest the 2027 presidential election.
Recall that on Sunday, Mr Fayose had requested Mr Abubakar to permit youthful folks fly the social gathering’s ticket within the subsequent basic election.
He stated the previous vice chairman can be 81 in 2027 and too previous to occupy the exalted seat.
However Mr Momodu, who can also be a former presidential aspirant, lampooned Mr Abubakar’s critics, saying age couldn’t be an automated qualification or disqualification in politics.
In line with him, solely God and future will decide whether or not Mr Abubakar will obtain his lifelong presidential ambition.
The PDP chieftain cited U.S. President Joe Biden and Donald Trump as examples of politicians who grew to become presidents at a sophisticated age.
He stated: “What has been the influence of those youthful individuals who stated they’ve been in politics? Go and examine their states.
“What have they achieved for the amount of cash made obtainable to them? Age can’t be an automated qualification or disqualification in politics.
“It’s as much as God and future. I’m a baby of future, and that’s the reason I’ve contentment. If Alhaji Atiku decides to run, good luck to him. If he doesn’t need to run, no drawback. However for anyone to muzzle him… why are they afraid of him?,” Mr Momodu requested.
On whether or not Mr Abubakar can be a menace to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, Mr Momodu stated: “I’m positive they [Abubakar’s critics] imagine so. I do know those that imagine that he’s the one one proper now.
“Abubakar shall be a menace if he is ready to galvanise a mega political social gathering. He shall be a menace,” Mr Momodu added.
The PDP chieftain stated Mr Abubakar stands an opportunity in 2027 if the, “temper of the nation is overwhelmingly against the present chief”.
