The Tremendous Eagles of Nigeria defeated the Cheetahs of Benin Republic of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers opener on Saturday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The win got here following an amazing efficiency by Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman who scored one and two objectives respectively.
Lookman opened the scoring within the first half because the Tremendous Eagles seized management of the match. The Cheetahs solely managed one shot on course within the half which was saved by goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.
The visiting crew tried to take management of the match within the early phases of the second half, just for them to be surprised by Osimhen’s mesmerising aim, extending the house aspect result in 2-0 within the 78th minute.

Nigeria will now flip their consideration to their second group stage match within the AFCON qualifiers.
They’re set to journey to Amahoro Stadium to face Rwanda on Tuesday, tenth September 2024.
The Tremendous Eagles are in Group D, alongside Benin, Rwanda, and Libya.
