The retirees accused the Federal Authorities of not paying them a 20% to twenty-eight% wage increment from January to November 2024.
Amongst their calls for are their owed funds for palliatives from October 2023 to November 2024, the cost of an extra N32,000 to their pensions, the majority cost of the Safety Debarment Allowance, and a refund of deductions created from the pensions of medically boarded troopers, amongst different calls for.
They introduced sleeping mats, chairs and canopies to the protest floor.
One of many leaders of the group, Col. Harmless Azubuike (retd.), had lamented the plight of navy pensioners, stating that their unpaid entitlements had brought on untold hardship.
He acknowledged that regardless of assurances that their entitlements can be cleared in November, they have been knowledgeable that the funds couldn’t be made as a consequence of an absence of money backing.
Azubuike mentioned, “We have been informed approval has been secured for the cost of our entitlements. The one factor remaining is money backing.
“We have been informed to train endurance and warranted that our long-unpaid entitlements can be settled in November. November is gone, and there’s no indication of when this may occur as a result of it’s a matter with the FMoF and never the Ministry of Defence.”
