The 15-man advert hoc committee, inaugurated on July 22, 2024, and led by Senate Chief Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (APC, Ekiti Central), was tasked with uncovering financial saboteurs within the petroleum sector and scrutinizing billions of {dollars} spent on refinery turnaround upkeep over the previous decade.
