The Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s funds presentation, saying it violates the authorized processes of the state.
Fubara signed the ₦1.188 trillion 2025 funds into legislation, following its passage by a controversial three-member legislative meeting led by Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo.
The presentation, in response to the APC, violates courtroom rulings and bypasses established governance protocols.
The APC referenced a earlier ruling by Justice James Omotosho, which mandated that budgets be offered to the Meeting beneath Martins Amaewhule, the legally recognised Speaker.
APC Chairman Emeka Okocha described Fubara’s actions as a blatant disregard for the rule of legislation, stating, “It’s unimaginable {that a} governor with such a wealthy background in finance and governance would sidestep authorized processes.”
Okocha accused the governor of deepening divisions within the state’s legislature, including that Fubara had missed a chance to advertise unity within the new 12 months.
Nonetheless, the governor dismissed the allegations, sustaining that Oko-Jumbo’s Meeting is the respectable legislative physique and criticising the opposing faction for what he termed a misguided journey.
Fubara mentioned, “We now have just one Meeting, and that Meeting is headed by Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo. We’ve given sufficient room for peace, and there’s no going again.”
He assured Rivers residents that his administration stays centered on delivering the guarantees outlined within the 2025 funds, with a specific emphasis on training, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure.
“Each projection within the funds can be launched to deliver hope and a greater life to the individuals of Rivers State,” the governor mentioned.
Speaker Oko-Jumbo recommended Fubara for his achievements, highlighting improved infrastructure, healthcare, and social welfare beneath his administration.
He lauded the governor’s dedication to staff, referencing the cost of ₦100,000 Christmas bonuses and the approval of an ₦85,000 minimal wage, positioning Fubara as a pacesetter who prioritises the well-being of the individuals.
The ₦1.188 trillion funds, representing a big improve from earlier years, goals to realize exponential progress within the state.
