CALABAR – The College of Calabar (UNICAL) has renamed its Worldwide Convention Centre after Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Throughout the anniversary, which coincided with the College’s thirty seventh convocation, Akpabio was additionally honoured with a Doctorate Diploma, in addition to the Minister of FCT Barr Nyesom Wike, and several other others.
The Senate President, who was additionally inducted into the UNICAL Corridor of Fame, donated two buses for the College students Union Authorities (SUG) in addition to LAWSAN (Regulation College students Affiliation of Nigeria) college students.
Talking in the course of the event, Senator Akpabio, recalled with nostalgia his journey as a scholar on the College of Calabar.
Making his contributions, Akpabio stated, “I’ve a model new bus for the College of Regulation and one other for the Scholar Union Authorities of this college since I used to be a former Speaker of the SUG. I encourage you to take your schooling critically and urge us to assist the expansion of schooling and the college. I dedicate this award to the glory of God.”
Shortly after the anniversary, the convention centre was renamed to ‘Sen. Godswill Akpabio UNICAL Int’l Convention Centre’.
For the honour, the Vice-Chancellor of the College, Professor Florence Obi, defined that it was the college’s means of appreciating the contributions of its alumni to the expansion of schooling and society.
Including “We’re celebrating 50 years of impactful service to the expansion of humanity. Proper from 1975 when the College of Calabar was based, we’ve got graduated practically 200 thousand graduates, who’re leaving their imprints throughout the globe.
