Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has signed a recent two-year contract with the membership.
The 33-year-old centre-back’s earlier contract had been set to run out on the finish of the season.
The Dutchman has joined ahead Mohamed Salah, who signed a two-year extension final week, in committing his future to the membership.
“It was all the time Liverpool,” stated Van Dijk, who had been linked with a transfer to Paris St-Germain.
“That was the case. It was all the time in my head, it was all the time the plan and it was all the time Liverpool.”
The Dutchman, who has made 314 appearances for the Reds, was named Liverpool captain in 2023 following Jordan Henderson’s departure.
“There wasn’t any doubt in my head that that is the place to be for me and my household,” stated Van Dijk.
“I’m certainly one of Liverpool. Somebody referred to as me the opposite day an adopted Scouser – I’m actually proud to listen to this stuff, it offers me an excellent feeling.
“It’s a proud feeling, it’s a sense of pleasure. It’s simply unimaginable.
“The journey I’ve had thus far in my profession, to have the ability to lengthen it with one other two years at this membership is superb and I’m so glad.”
Van Dijk has been with the membership since becoming a member of for £75m from Southampton in January 2018.
Since then, he has helped Liverpool win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Membership World Cup and EFL Cup twice.
Beneath Liverpool supervisor and fellow Dutchman Arne Slot, who’s in his first season within the function, Van Dijk has been key in serving to the Reds shut in on a record-equalling twentieth English league title.
Van Dijk stated in March that he had “no thought” if he would stay at Anfield.
However earlier this month, he stated that there had been “progress” in negotiations with the membership over a brand new contract.
With new offers confirmed for Salah and Van Dijk, the way forward for defender Trent Alexander-Arnold stays unresolved.
The England defender, who returned to Liverpool coaching on Wednesday after a month out due to harm, is out of contract in July and has been closely linked with a transfer to Actual Madrid.
